Keeping fit, losing weight, feeling comfortable in our skin…they’re all such big business! From pills that can make you lose weight in your sleep to machines that give you a six pack as you sit watching TV…we’ve heard and gazed in awe and wondered…”what if this one actually works”. Well guess what folks, we’re gonna let you in on a little secret…you don’t need to buy any pills or devices or machines that turn into hangers for our clothes, yes, you can actually lose weight and achieve your personal goals without buying any of that stuff. Check out our proven Kickstart programme here for more info but in the meantime, we’re gonna give you 5 simple tips to get mentally and physically fitter and healthier!

Step 1 – Decide to make a change:

That’s right, YOU need to decide that you actually want to make changes to your lifestyle, not anybody else. Loved ones can encourage you but the decision is ultimately yours. You don’t need to have tons of information or even tried before, but give it a go…you’ll be amazed how successful you can be!

Step 2 – Get a training partner:

Most successful studies show that if you have a training partner (could be a friend, relation, personal trainer, club), you are more likely to achieve your fitness goals. There are so many different types of health and fitness programmes/books available that people can get bogged down in researching everything that’s out there…why not just get up and go, even if its walking for 15mins, it’s a start and you’re on the right road.

Step 3 – Forget the word diet!!

For many people the word diet implies that you will eat a certain way for a specific length of time and this is why so many people struggle after the diet is over and some even put on more weight than before. As we have said, this is a lifestyle change, it’s the new you. If you make informed healthy choices in your daily food plan (yes you do need to plan what you’re going to eat!), this will quickly become your routine and you will be more likely to succeed.

Step 4 – Tell your friends:

This has a twofold benefit! Firstly, when we tell someone of a plan to make a change we are more likely to follow it through, but even more significantly, it’s really important to get them on side. You WILL be faced with questions/comments etc about what you are now eating or why you’re not drinking/eating like everyone expects you to. If you speak to friends and family and let them know that you will need their support, especially through the tough times, they are less likely to pass comments that could cause you to struggle.

Step 5 – Prepare for the Plateau:

There is a good chance that your hard work will pay off early on in your new regime and you will see great successes in your goals, but there will come a time where you progress will slow and possibly stop. This is a very dangerous time. It will be very easy for you to go back to your old ways and habits and possibly be worse off than before you started. Don’t let this put you off starting and don’t worry, just let your training partner know and get them to grab you and pull you through this period and your gains will start again soon. You know you really want to succeed so get out there and go for it!
